History is Made: Serbia Wins the Davis Cup

After 3 days of matches, Serbia is triumphant in taking home the coveted Davis Cup.  Led by world number 3 Dovak Djokovic the Serbian team rose to the occasion to defeat France, a country that has won the Davis Cup nine times. 

At the end of day number one, each team bosted victories with Novak Djokovic beating Gilles Simon and Gael Monfils beating Janko Tipsarevic from Serbia.

Day 2 featured the doubles match and what a fantastic, entertaining display of talent from both teams.  Nenad Zimojic and Viktor Troicki had a two set to love lead over the veterans Arnaud Clement and Michael Llodra from France.  The experienced french team cranked it up and ultimately won the match in 5 sets.

Day 3 was all about the Serbs.  Novak Djokovic showed why he is the number 3 tennis played in the world dismissing Gael Monfils in straight sets.  On paper the final match of the day and deciding point gave France the edge with the veteran Michael Llodra from France taking on the young Viktor Troicki from Serbia.   But quickly Viktor took the lead and never looked back winning in straight sets. 

It was a great day for Serbia!
